Location: Birmingham (hybrid role, based in Birmingham city centre 2/3 days per month)
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + bonus scheme
Hours: 37.5 per week (full time)

Business Development Manager: Role Overview

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in connecting employers with apprenticeship and training opportunities, helping people launch and develop careers in the tech and digital sectors.

You will be responsible for driving growth by building and maintaining a strong pipeline of employer prospects, converting these into live vacancies, and ensuring apprenticeships are effectively matched to employer needs and learner aspirations. The role includes attending networking events, employer meetings, and industry functions. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Business Development Manager: Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with employers of all sizes through networking and outreach.
  • Present apprenticeship and training solutions to potential partners, securing commitments to recruit apprentices or upskill existing staff.
  • Proactively identify and engage new employer clients across the tech and digital sectors.
  • Consistently achieve monthly targets for apprenticeship placements.
  • Generate new business through calls, LinkedIn, email, and marketing activities.
  • Coordinate apprenticeship interviews with employers and candidates, working closely with resourcing teams.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines and documentation in line with compliance requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance to employers on apprenticeship funding and processes.
  • Support high-quality candidate placement, ensuring both employer and learner needs are met.
  • Deliver engaging presentations at events and online to promote apprenticeship opportunities.

Business Development Manager: Essential Experience

  • Proven success in business development within apprenticeships, training, or recruitment.
  • Strong B2B sales experience with a track record of converting prospects into sign-ups.
  • Confident attending and networking at professional events.
  • Passionate about building relationships with employers, learners, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with IT systems including Excel, Word, and CRM tools.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
